Dear all,
Once more i have to point out that Naviga is a non political organisation with 1 goal only and that is to practise and promote ship modeling which means that under no circumstances an official ceremony (opening or medal ceremony) can be used to make a political statement in what form what so ever. Due to certain circumstanses well known to all of us Naviga was forced to ban 2 member countries in order to avoid any possible conflict in the future and that is the way Naviga wants to keep it, so pouring oil to the fire by wearing clothing or whatever reffering to political situations and or person(s) at an official Naviga ceremony is totaly unaceptable and cannot be tolerated. It is enough that just 1 person takes offense to such issues to make this a serious matter to me.
Most countries participants show up to opening or medal ceremonies in some sort of National attire, being t shirts or full track suits and that is perfect and practised by almost everyone. An opening/closing or medal ceremony is not the place or the time to divert from that in order to make refference to any political idea and or person on either side of the spectrum. Naviga is openminded enough to accept freedom of speech for everyone, but an official ceremony will not be hijacked for other means than related to boat modeling.
Please bare in mind that i take this matter very serious and if needed will take steps should such an occasion happen again , regardless of nationality or person(s) ignoring this.
Geens Walter
Naviga President
