2006 Activity Report for Section NS

At the beginning of last year, we published Section NS 2004 Rules, Version 2006. We now have these rules available in German as well as in English. Based on my experience from this year's Section NS European Championship in Poland, I suggest that all current NAVIGA rules be published in real time on our organization's website. Having these rules readily available to all competitors, and getting more people drawn to our activities in my opinion far outweighs selling them. A sport that keeps its rules secret lacks transparency!
Our Polish colleagues organized our top competition - European Championship - on Aug. 19 - 26, 2006, in Glowno. 79 seniors and 46 juniors from nine countries competed for titles. We have to say that the fact that models weren't being registered immediately after competitors' arrival lead to major problems in organizing the races. The Section NS leadership still hasn't learned when and how we will receive our share of registration fees, in the sum of 433,- Euro total.
Section NS appointed the Russian model ship-building federation to organize the upcoming World Championship next year, and this Championship is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg. We are hoping that preparations for this Championship will proceed smoothly.
At this upcoming World Championship, we will elect new Section NS Representative, and we will also approve any ammendments and changes that will be incorporated in the German and English version of the Rules starting 2008.
I'd like to apologize to the present members of NAVIGA for my absence, which is caused by a business engagement abroad.
With kind regards,
Mgr. Martin Tomásek, Ph.D.
Section NS Chairperson
