Section C The competition was delegated to the Croatian federation for arranging. He was announced and carried out from 24.06.06 until 01.07.2006. Venue was the fort Revelin in the center of the old town, situated directly at the harbour of Dubrovnik. More than 250 ship models from 14 nations were registered, details please find in the list of results. Three committees of referees under the leadership of Mr. van Gelderen (NL); Chauchet (F) and Bonev (BG) were at the disposal for the valuation of the models. The competition was directed by the section leader Mr. Matysik (D). Mr. Türck (AUT), has arrived as NAVIGAS general secretary. Mr. Matysik was confirmed as section leader during the orderly meeting of section C. The competition took place in a markedly pleasant and amicable atmosphere, due to the qualification of the referees and the local circumstances. We give our warmest thanks for their accomplished good work to the local representatives of the Croatian federation, namely Mr. Maldini, Mr. Mitic, Mr. Vecaric and Mr. Iljadica, and further thanks to the CTK Rijeka for the preliminary activities and the organization. Opening and award ceremony took place in a dignified range under comprehension of NAVIGAS official ceremony. In particular we want to mention the presence of the Croatian prime minister during the opening ceremony in the old town of Dubrovnik. For the participants and referees an attractive supporting programme with excursion and evening banquet on board of a ship was offered. Dubrovnik was surely a special highlight of NAVIGAS competitions in the last years. |

| European competition 2007 of
Section C The competition was delegated for arranging to the Bulgarian federation. He was announced and carried out from 01.09. until 08.09.2007. Venue was the museum of art in Kaverna, located at the Black Sea, Bulgaria. More than 160 ship models from eight nations have been registered, details please find in the list of results. Two committees of referees under the leadership of Mr. Bonev (BG) and Mr. Langl (D) were at the disposal for the valuation of the models. Myself, being the leader of section C, have acted as leading referee and have represented the NAVIGA at corresponding occasions. A participant from the Ukraine has worked as trainee for the building inspection. The competition took place in a markedly pleasant and amicable atmosphere. Discrepancies didn’t arise. We give our warmest thanks to the general secretary of the Bulgarian federation, Mr. Kolya Panayotov, and to the representitives of the club “Vimpel Kavarna”, namely to Mr. Stoian Vasilev and his family for their accomplished good work. We also thank Mr. Georgi Bonev, who has supported the competition concerning prearrangement in an outstanding manner. Opening and final ceremony as well as the award ceremony took place under comprehension of NAVIGAS official ceremony. For referees and participants a supporting programme with excursion and evening banquet was offered. The number of the registered models and the number of the participating countries have been critical subjects. Countries from the western part of Europe were not represented during this competition. The development in the categories C6 and C7 is good for the section. Models of these categories have already achieved a 30 % part of the total number of the registered models, without these models the range for an European competition is certainly not granted. |

| Training and Meeting of the
referees. Forecast: During the international events always some special questions for better definition of category as well as for general regulations of the section arise. But they are not very important at the moment and have to be discussed in the future. It is advisable, to republish the regulations not until these changements. A concept already exists. Another problem is the situation concerning the referees. First, there will be difficulties, to enthuse a sufficient number of good referees for “isolated, problematic” venues. Here the travel costs surely play an irrelevant role. Secondly the costs for the referees have to be regarded by the organizer. A trend to more referees from the own country and to referees, who will start in a carried out category, can be remarked. Not acceptable in the future is the accommodation of several referees in one room. This is not contemporary and not reasonable. All these problems have to be observed and discussed and preferably abandoned. By the way, the considerations concerning other seasonal venue intervals of the European and world competitions in the future should not disappear from NAVIGAS sight. |
